Out and About Dayton in June

June was a great month for getting out in Dayton and having fun (or marching against Fascism – it’s own sort of fun).

Phoenician Scheme at The Neon

We always make it a point to see Wes Anderson movies at the theatre when they come out and this one was great. The day we went was double busy because The Neon was screening But I’m a Cheerleader for Pride. It was busy and fun!

Dayton Pride Festival

I had a great time at this year’s Dayton Pride. I love the performers but I think my favorite part of the festival is shopping the vendors. I especially love my gem earrings from Owl’s Nest.

Tour of Hotel Ardent

This tour of Hotel Ardent was so much fun for me. I loved getting to see more of this gorgeous hotel. Plus, any excuse to spend time at Bistecca is great. See the rooms for yourself in my article about Hotel Ardent here.

Preview of Pins Mechanical

Right before Pins Mechanical opened, I had a chance to check it out and it’s a lot of fun. When you see it, you’ll wonder how anything else was ever in that space – it’s like it was always meant for Pins.

No Kings Protest at Riverscape Metropark

I think the last march I took part in was for Darfur so it’s definitely been a while. I had an appointment beforehand so I had to meet my boyfriend and his brother there and I remember walking toward Riverscape on the phone with my boyfriend reminding him the protest was under the tent. I didn’t expect a ton of people to be there – but when I got to Riverscape it was PACKED like a festival – we couldn’t get anywhere near the tent. It’s so encouraging to see so many people exercising their right to peaceful protest. These are scary times and it felt, for at least an afternoon, like maybe it could get better.
