I had a chance to preview the new Pins Mechanical opening Wednesday, June 18 in Dayton and it’s a lot of fun!

The Place

Across from the Dragons’ baseball stadium, Pins took over the former Moeller Brew Barn. One thing I noticed right away was that a place like Pins makes so much more sense in this space, which is a sort of L-shape around a big patio. They made great use of this building by having defined areas for different activities.

The patio features oversized Jenga, oversized beer pong, fire pits, plenty of seating, and, most notably, a giant metal slide.

Inside, there are plenty of games found throughout the space, as well as two bars (one on each floor), which are both indoor/outdoor.

There are tons of tables just to sit and have a drink with friends between playing games, too.

The Games

You can have a lot of fun at Pins Mechanical enjoying all of the games and activities available. Some games are free like Jenga, others require pre-purchase like duckpin bowling, and some you pay as you play like pinball.

Speaking of pinball, they have a lot of pinball machines!

The Drinks

Both bars are stocked with all the same taps and drink options. There are tons of craft beers on draft and they have several tasty cocktails to choose from. They have Happy Hour from 4-7 p.m. on weekdays for $5 off specialty cocktails. I tried The Daphne cocktail featuring dragonberry rum and dragon fruit, orange, and lime juices.

They also offer sharable drinks like 100 oz beer towers and cocktail bowls that serve 4-6.

While there’s no food at Pins, they’ll have food trucks and you’re encouraged to purchase food at local restaurants and have it delivered.

Pins Mechanical is a great addition to downtown Dayton, and an especially great fit for the space they’re in. I think it’ll be neat to stop in before Dragons games or anytime you’re looking for something fun to do downtown with a group. It’s 21+ after 9 p.m.
