Girl About Dayton
Girl About Dayton is all about celebrating the restaurants, shops, shows, salons, spas, products, events, businesses, hotels, and more that I love in the Dayton area. In addition to this blog, I publish a weekly newsletter. You can sign up here.
Articles are grouped into Food & Drink, Beauty & Shopping, and Arts & Entertainment. Does everything fit neatly into one of those categories? No! But I do my best.
Who am I? My name is Lauren Rinehart, I was born in Dayton and have lived in the region ever since.
Why do I do this? I started this blog originally in 2011 as an answer to the deafening chorus of people at the time saying Dayton was dead, there’s nothing to do here, etc. I thought if I could share what I love about Dayton, it could help people see its potential.
Thanks to the momentum of a huge grassroots effort, Dayton is experiencing a revitalization and you just about never hear anyone complain there’s nothing to do here anymore.
How do I do this? All writing and images are by me unless otherwise noted. I use 100% grey matter to write my articles and I take all my photos with an iPhone.
Occasionally very kind people feed me or offer me nice things in exchange for promotion, but I disclose it and I would never recommend something that I wouldn’t revisit or purchase otherwise. I mostly follow my own curiosity to think of topics and places to try. If you have any questions, let me know.

Lauren Rinehart
I’m in my late thirties, my pronouns are she/her, and I live in the Centerville area (or what I grew up calling ‘south of town’). I work in marketing and I’m an ENFP. If I’m not crafting copy for my clients or writing here, you can find me working out at Rinse Cycle, sipping a sangria at Old Scratch, or enjoying some self care with Dayton beauty products.
