September was one to remember, that is for sure. Check out my favorite restaurant experiences this month.
Dinner at Winds Cafe

To kickoff our night out in Yellow Springs, we went to Winds Cafe for dinner. It was a lovely time and everything was delicious as always.

I should have taken notes of what we had – we caught the tail end of summer and the menu is all set now for fall. But I remember that we loved every bite and that’s what counts anyway.
Breakfast at Sunrise Cafe

We had a great stay at Grinnell Mill, and one benefit of staying overnight in Yellow Springs is that you can go to breakfast in the morning at Sunrise Cafe!
I don’t get to do this nearly enough, so when I go, I tend to order nearly half of the menu. You just don’t normally find vegan breakfast choices like this. It’s amazing.

I got the super veggie scramble with tofu, the Sunrise potatoes, and the veggie breakfast patties. I shared the veggie patties, but took care of the rest myself. Sunrise Cafe is just so, so, so delicious.
And the coffee is great, too. It’s a little darker roasted and strong, plus they serve it in unique mugs.
Work Day at Power Plant

Altafiber had a pretty big outage for around two days and because I work from home, I had to find somewhere to set up and get some work done. I was also pretty hungry, so I took myself and my work laptop to Power Plant.
I had my favorite Kali Dreamin’ smoothie for breakfast.

Later on, I had the lemony kale and chickpea salad with a green juice called Green Supreme 2.0.

I was surprised how much work I was able to get done honestly – my brain doesn’t normally let me focus when other people are around. Maybe it was all the green super foods.
Anniversary Dinner at Manna

We really didn’t have any plans this year for our anniversary. Normally we would do an overnight stay somewhere, but we had two nearly back to back, and couldn’t think of anything else to do instead.

On that Friday, we made a same-day decision to go to Manna to celebrate and it was a perfect evening.

I got the Heartbeet cocktail and I loved that it’s served with a golden heart. That seemed appropriate. It was earthy and sweet, with roasted beet mezcal, spiced pear liqueur, agave, lemon-vanilla bitters, and angostura bitters.

I ordered the vegan mushroom bolognese and it was amazing. I loved it! It was a portabella steak over spaghetti squash with cremini mushroom and tomato bolognese.

My boyfriend ordered the cauliflower fritters and frisée chef salad – it made the perfect meal together.

Next, I’d love to go to Manna’s bar sometime for a cocktail and snack during one of their happy hours. I can’t believe I haven’t done that yet!
Dinner on the Patio at Sunrise Cafe

One random day, we decided to check the sunflowers in Yellow Springs one more time. They were unfortunately done for the year (congratulations to the birds and chipmunks though). We picked Sunrise Cafe to have dinner and sat on the patio for the first time. I always forget they have one!

I enjoyed a mountain of Micro Green-Sunflower-Kale Salad with tofu and a bowl of vegan potato soup.

I think the reason I love Sunrise Cafe so much is because they make things that I make at home the same way that I make them only I don’t have to do it or clean up. It doesn’t get better than that for me.

Still hungry? (How? jk!) Check out my favorite meals from August.
