A slice (or two) of pizza makes for a pretty perfect lunch. Here’s where you can find pizza by the slice in Dayton.
Flying Pizza
With locations throughout the region, Flying Pizza is the quintessential New York-style, by-the-slice pizza place. They offer large slices of New York-style pizza for lunch and dinner, as well as their Sicilian slices, which are rectangular, thicker, and have a chunkier sauce. Grab a slice with some chips or a salad. You can also order full pies!
Pizza Bandit
Located in/next to Yellow Cab Tavern in Dayton, Pizza Bandit has large slices available for lunch and dinner. You can also order whole pies, including vegan pizzas. The Bandit Bread and Lil Bandits are great additions to your order, but I love their salad especially (minus feta).
Troni’s Pizza & Pasta
Located in the former space of Carmen’s Bistro in the Stratacache Tower (40 N. Main St.), Troni’s Pizza & Pasta offers pizza by the slice as well as full pizzas and pasta options.
Hoagie’s Pizza House
I have fond memories of grabbing a slice of Hoagie’s pizza and a salad with their garlicky house dressing for lunch, however, this was now 10 years ago and I’m not 100% sure they still offer pizza by the slice. I’ll try to find out more definitively (they are currently on vacation through July 30, 2024!), but if they have it, they only offer pizza by the slice at lunchtime. Hoagie’s is located in Northridge (6128 N Dixie Dr, Dayton, OH 45414) and is famous for their pizzas as well as their sandwiches – their Spider sandwich in particular.
Whole Foods
It’s not locally owned, but it is convenient to grab a slice of pizza at Whole Foods, build a salad at the salad bar, and sit down to a yummy lunch or dinner before attacking your grocery list for the week. Their slices are huge and they offer a vegan option with inventive toppings.
