My Fun Stay at AC Hotel Dayton

I recently had the opportunity to stay a night at AC Hotel Dayton and have dinner at The Foundry in exchange for sharing my experience on social. I had a great time in this sleek, stylish hotel in downtown Dayton, and the perfect rooftop sunset dinner at The Foundry.

The Hotel

AC Hotel Dayton is located across from Dragons stadium and next door to Pins Mechanical in downtown Dayton.

The entire hotel is scented with a clean, sort of botanical fragrance. It sets the mood for a great overnight stay.

The bar on the main level is really nice and has tons of seating areas. We kicked off the evening with a drink at the AC Hotel Bar and it was the perfect reset.

In the morning, the bar area offers a European-style breakfast. I wasn’t able to find anything for myself (it’s mostly meat, cheese, and pastry) but definitely enjoyed the coffee!

The Room

My room was a king room, and it had everything I needed – including water and coffee. I really like the design feature of the long bench that has lighting underneath. Its plenty of space to open up a suitcase.

The TV greets you with your name on it – I thought that was a really nice little welcoming touch.

The bathroom had everything I needed and I liked how minimal and sleek the finishes are in there.

The bed was comfy and relaxing.

And this might seem like an odd detail to bring up but the air conditioning was probably the best I’ve ever experienced at a hotel – I can’t really tell you what it was about it exactly, it just felt like “real” air conditioning if that makes sense. I sometimes think some hotels have air conditioning that just makes a lot of noise but doesn’t really make a huge difference, or at least it takes a long time for it to work. This air conditioning just instantly made the room cooler, without having to wait.

Dinner at The Foundry

I’ve been to The Foundry before, but this was my first time sitting outside to eat (except when we tried the igloos earlier this year!). The sunset from the rooftop was so pretty and it was fun dining to a live DJ.

We started with the bread service and it was two kinds of bread made by Good Hands Bread Co. in Dayton with herbs in a really good olive oil.

I got the vegan entree, which was the campanale marcato. It was citrusy and tasty with lots of great veggies (just make sure to state that you’d like it prepared vegan). They made my boyfriend a vegetarian risotto that he loved as well.

I tried a couple of cocktails. One was created by their bartender, Maddy and named that because her main job is in journalism and The Foundry is where she works afterward.

The second cocktail I tried was the Adult Swim. I’ll always order the blue drink – and bonus, it features Hypnotiq, which was a blast from the past!

The Details

Parking at AC Hotel Dayton is simple – you can either do valet in front of the hotel or park your car yourself in the Delco garage across the street from the hotel entrance. We parked ourselves and it was easy. The front desk reached out before our stay for our car’s make, model, and license plate, and they took care of entering that in the parking system. If you miss the email and don’t do that ahead of time, you can just tell them at the desk at check in.

Even when staying at the hotel, you’ll still need to use the separate Foundry entrance to the elevator that takes you all the way to the roof.

The lobby has a lot of snacks and drinks for sale—including Jeni’s ice cream!

They have rentable conference rooms on the main floor. The weekend after I stayed at the hotel, I came right back to buy Guided by Voices merch in the Flyer Room! It was the perfect size for the sale.

Reservations aren’t required at The Foundry, but it’s always a good idea if you know when you’ll be going. Check out when we tried the rooftop igloos earlier this year.

I would love to stay here again sometime, it’s really a perfect little break from the everyday without going too far.
