December is a big shopping month and I had a lot of fun visiting holiday markets and local shops to get gifts (and little treats for me – it’s my birth month, after all).

Creepy Christmas at The Brightside

This new holiday market was a fun addition to the usual lineup of handmade craft shows this season. It was held at The Brightside and was completely packed wall to wall with shoppers.

Ghost Painting

I have been on the hunt for one of these ghost portraits by Tiffany Clark since I started seeing her post about them on social media. This little one came home with me from Creepy Christmas!

Dayton Ghosts & Legends book by Sara Kaushal

I love reading local books and when I saw Sara Kaushal’s booth at Creepy Christmas, I had to grab one of these spooky books to take home. I’ve been reading it and it’s neat to drive past some of the places mentioned in the book and think about what’s going on inside.

Handmade Holiday

My favorite holiday market every year is Handmade Holiday at Yellow Cab Tavern. It features two big spaces full of great local makers selling unique gifts (and many, many things I end up taking home for myself!).

Gifts from Handmade by Allison

Suncatcher

Handmade by Allison’s booth is always full of great, giftable handmade items. I loved her new sun catchers so much!

Candles from Tasha’s Common Scents

Handmade Holiday in Dayton

Tasha’s Common Scents booth is always right by the entrance, so you can get caught by the the holiday fragrances immediately. I bought soy wax candles for hostess gifts and stocking stuffers.

Gift Shopping at Heart Mercantile

Heart store during the holidays

Shopping for gifts at Heart Mercantile is fun because you can get things for so many people on your list at once. I also love the selection of books and all the stocking stuffers. I always end up leaving with plenty of things for myself, too – I can’t help it!

Holly Days at the Dayton Arcade

Holly Days at the North Arcade entrance

This holiday market at the Dayton Arcade is always the most magical. With performances by local musicians and actors, indoor snow falling from the ceiling, and the rotunda lit with colorful lights – this event always brings back the old Dayton holiday magic.

Earrings by Riley Street Merchants

earrings

I bought plenty of gifts from Riley Street Merchants this year but these earrings were for me. I love her use of local paint chips from around downtown Dayton, which is why I have a ton of these pieces in my collection.

Beret from Saint

Beret

For vintage lovers, Saint is a must-visit. Located in Antiques Village in Centerville, the booth came to us at the Arcade for Holly Days and it was so much fun seeing all of the pieces and jewelry. I took home this adorable beret for some winter warmth with style.

Sweater and Snowflake Earrings from Desert Roots

Sweater and earrings

Desert Roots’ booth is always one that I have to visit each Holly Days. I love her candles and so far every year I’ve found a perfect sweater to add to my closet! I’ve also had my eye on these earrings and finally bought them.

Gift Shopping at Base Camp

Base Camp in Dayton

I stopped in Base Camp to get some stocking stuffers (multi-purpose camp knives make very well-received gifts, just fyi) and found some things for myself, naturally. I always love visiting this shop and finding useful things I can use forever.

See where I shopped in October.
