This month is all about friends and family and I had a lot of fun celebrating with everyone. A lot of that takes place at home, though, so there wasn’t nearly as much to talk about here. These are the public places I went to celebrate the season.

Birthday at Scene75

I had the best time revisiting Scene75 for my birthday with my friends. We played a ton of arcade games and I got to try the two-story carousel for the first time.

One behind-the-scenes note: I brought disposable cameras to capture the day in a nostalgic way, but unfortunately I didn’t take into account how long it takes to get film developed nowadays. When I was growing up, there were places everywhere that could develop film in an hour, but now it’s sent away and you get it back in 2-4 weeks (and if it gets lost in the mail, oh well).

2026 Update: I got the photos back! Not many turned out, but we still got some good shots. Check out the article to see them!

Ax Throwing at Two Social

Two Social in Dayton

My coworkers and I went to Two Social to try ax throwing and it was a lot of fun. I have only done that at the Renaissance Festival and this was definitely different from that experience. I even got a bullseye!

They have two types of axes: one that works best for throwing two-handed and one that works best for throwing one-handed. It was the smaller, one-handed one I got a bullseye with.

Update 2026: When I got film developed (see Scene75 above), I didn’t realize that someone from my work took one of my disposable cameras and took this photo of me at Two Social (there were a few photos left on each camera so I was carting them around to try and use them up around town)! Sneaky, sneaky! This wasn’t the throw where I made a bullseye, that would have been AMAZING to capture.

Holiday Shopping at Craft Shows around Dayton

I LOVE shopping local for all my holiday shopping (plus, it’s my birth month so I end up treating myself pretty much the entire time…). You can learn more about these events here. We went to:

Creepy Christmas at The Brightside – this was a new one this year! It was awesome and I hope it’s coming back next year, too.
