This month was a big one with so many fun things to do all around Dayton. Here’s the best of what I got up to.

The Great Dayton Cake Off

Me judging the Cake Off

Kicking off the month with Art in the City and co-judging the Great Dayton Cake Off was absolutely amazing. I had the chance to see 14 creative cakes and walk around downtown enjoying all the excitement and artistic expression. I couldn’t ask for a better day!

Tour of Isaac Pollack House

Alan the cat at Pollack House in Dayton

I had the chance to tour the Isaac Pollack house, which formerly housed the Dayton International Peace Museum. Its current owners restored it to a single-family residence in the early 2020s and it’s now for sale. The biggest highlight of course was meeting their cats: Alan and Alda. As a huge fan of M*A*S*H (and cats), I was very excited about their names.

Roman Holiday Party at The Neon

Aperol Spritz at The Neon

My sister’s birthday was even more special this year because it happened to land on the same day The Neon was hosting a Roman Holiday party. In addition to screening this classic film, they had aperol spritz, gelato, and adffogato on the patio, which was all decked out in beautiful, summery decor.

Guided by Voices Get a Banner

Me at GBV banner in Dayton

Downtown Dayton Partnership created these amazing banners honoring Zapp and Guided by Voices – two world renowned bands that don’t get nearly enough local credit. This is definitely a great direction for downtown!

Germanfest Picnic

Beer at Germanfest Picnic in Dayton

The Germanfest Picnic was so much fun despite being probably the hottest weather for one I’ve ever attended. I tried a few of the German beers on tap, looked up some German family on the provided Ancestry computers inside, and had a pretzel – a perfect time all around.

Heedfest XIII

GBV cover band takes the stage at Yellow Cab

Ending the month with Heedfest, the annual Guided by Voices fan festival held in Dayton, was the icing on the cake. I had the best time singing loud along with hundreds of other fans, drinking Miller Lite, and watching people from all over the world fall in love with my city.

See what I did in July.
