I’m always down to try new beauty things and brow lamination has been on my list for a while. I like the idea of making my brows fuller-looking and this process definitely helps with that. I went to B&G Refinery to get my brows laminated. Here’s what I noticed:
The Process
The actual steps of the process are pretty easy – your esthetician applies some chemicals to your brows and gets them positioned. Then they place plastic over them to let the chemicals do their thing. I noticed immediately that the smell was similar to perm chemicals, which brought me back to when all salons smelled like that! There’s no pain, burning, itching – nothing like that. And I have very sensitive skin, so that’s saying something.
After a few minutes of processing, the plastic comes off along with the chemical and voila! Perfect lifted brows. Your esthetician may use brow scissors to trim them all the same length if you’d like, too.
I added tinting to my appointment because my brows are invisible otherwise. I also had my lashes tinted in the same appointment as well for the same reason.
The Aftercare
The steps to maintain brow lamination are pretty simple. You don’t want to get them wet for the first 24 hours, no makeup or products either. Then sleep on your back if you can for the first two nights.
For styling, I’ve just used a spoolie to brush them how I want them. You can also use brow gel to lock them in place, but I haven’t needed to do that yet.
The Results
I’ve really been enjoying having fuller-looking brows. It helps that I’ve been working on regrowing them using a brow serum for several months. The serum I use is from Square One (Aveda Invati Brow Thickening Serum).
I’ll add to this article to share how long it lasted for me, but my esthetician explained it can last as long as 8 weeks!
Most importantly, this is such a huge departure from my high school self plucking my poor eyebrows to thin nothingness. I get why we did it, but if I had known it would be so hard dealing with the aftermath of that look for the rest of my life, I maybe would have set down the tweezers.
