In summer, my skincare routine definitely doesn’t need to be complicated and thankfully Dayton offers plenty of easy-to-use products that keep me looking my best. Here are some of my new favorites this year.

Lavender Algae Body Oil – Hartman Lavender Garden

I love mixing body oil with a plain, unscented lotion in the winter, but as I’ve gotten older, my skin seems to appreciate that all year now. So, it’s a good thing I found this locally made Lavender Algae Body Oil by Hartman Lavender Garden at Shoppe Smitten (fun fact – the day after I bought this at Shoppe Smitten, I saw it again at Cedar Ridge Trails!).

It comes in two sizes – a 4oz and .5oz. It’s rich and smells herbal, spa-like, and almost savory? I love it.

Blissoma Mild Rice Facial Cleanser – B&G Refinery

This face wash is absolutely wonderful, smells incredible, and has this tiny bit of exfoliation to it. I first tried it during a facial at B&G Refinery and had to have it at home, too. Get it locally at B&G Refinery.

Aveda Invati Brow Thickening Serum – Square One Salon & Spa

This might be the most ridiculously expensive impulse purchase I’ve ever made, but in my defense, I came of age in a skinny eyebrow era and boy did that do a lot of damage. I assumed all that over-plucking in my teens would be irreversible, but this serum is actually working. Get it at a Square One Salon & Spa location near you.

Sleepy Jean Night Cream – Elle Landon

I use Dayton-made Elle Landon products all year, but for some reason this summer I can’t stop reaching for Sleepy Jean in particular – especially as a part of my nighttime skincare routine. It’s a perfect final layer to seal in the other steps.

Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse – Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Company

This article is about skincare, and your scalp could always use more skincare love. When I go to Pink Moon Goods, I make sure to stock up on this hair rinse. To use it, you dilute it with water, so this little bottle goes a long way. It really helps wash away all the extra sweat, sunscreen, pool water, etc. that comes with summer fun.
