Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a great way to support locally owned farms in the region while maximizing the amount of fresh seasonal produce you have on hand throughout the growing season. Here’s some info on a few local farms with CSA programs you can join now or get on their waitlists.
Hungry Toad Farm – Centerville
Hungry Toad Farm offers a Farm Membership for $50 called Friends of the Farm. Members get 10% off plus first dibs on produce as it becomes available throughout the growing season.
They also have a farm store where they sell their available produce as well as local cheeses, honey, bread, and coffee. Check their website for open hours and what’s for sale this week.
Mile Creek Farm – New Lebanon
Mile Creek Farm offers certified organic produce in their weekly or biweekly CSA options. Each box is $32 and contains 8-12 vegetables. Boxes can be paused or rescheduled as needed. Home delivery and neighborhood pick ups are sold out for 2025, but farm pickup is still available. Mile Creek offers lots of payment options to fit as many budgets as possible.
Patchwork Gardens – Dayton
Patchwork Gardens offers a weekly box of fresh produce with the option to add on extra portions of greens or bread. Their large share box is ideal for families or two very veg-forward people. Their small share box has less produce for individuals or couples. Delivery, pickup, or group pickup available. It looks like they are on a waitlist for the 2025 season right now.
You’ve likely eaten plenty of Patchwork Gardens produce at restaurants throughout the Dayton area – plus they partner with a few retail outlets locally.
Foxhole Farm – Brookville
Foxhole Farm’s CSA program is $200, which buys you $220 worth of credit to spend at their famers market booth at the Oakwood Farmers Market or online. The benefit is that you don’t have to pick up a box every week and you can have more flexibility in what you receive.
