If you’ve ever watched an old movie and thought to yourself that it might be fun to go dancing like they did back in the old days, you should definitely keep an eye on Hidden Gem’s schedule.
I’ve attended two dances at Hidden Gem featuring a live band and plenty of amazing dancers strutting their stuff on the dance floor. Some dances are hosted by Hidden Gem while others are local dance and music groups hosting the event at Hidden Gem as the venue. Either way, it’s a fun way to experience a tradition we don’t normally get to participate in anymore.
One event was a Halloween Party hosted by the Dayton Salsa Project and salsa dancers were showing us how it’s done.
Another event was a holiday dance hosted by Hidden Gem featuring Hauer Music’s swing band. Swing dancers were out in full force for that one.
Did I dance? Yep! Once or twice at each dance. It did feel a little intimidating dancing on the same dance floor as people with actual skill, but it was still a lot of fun to try and I didn’t fall on my face.
Hidden Gem has a full bar and some menu items as well. It’s located behind Submarine House in the same shopping center area that has Flying Pizza, Zink’s, and Heavier Than Air Brewing Company. You can keep an eye on their calendar page for upcoming dances and other events.
