(Dazzle Dry manicure on the left, Gel Manicure with chrome on the right)
I’ve been consistently getting gel manicures at Nails on Brown for a year now and recently tried Dazzle Dry there instead for the first time. Here are my notes:
- Dazzle Dry has fewer colors to choose from, which REALLY helps me make a faster decision (if you are also indecisive, you know how fewer choices can actually be so calming).
- Dazzle Dry is basically regular nail polish on steroids. It dries super quick and lasts an incredible amount of time. I got my Dazzle Dry manicure on April 6 and I’m writing this on April 16. Still no chips! I’m probably going to repaint them soon just because they’re growing out.
- Gel nails are thick and feel invincible – like gorgeous nail armor. Dazzle Dry nails are as thin as normal polish, so it was a bit of an adjustment feeling my nails bend more normally for the first time in a year and their profile is thinner. I also have to be more mindful of things that could chip my nails (opening pop tabs, etc.).
- The most notable difference is that if you do decide you’re ready for a change, Dazzle Dry is removable at home using nail polish remover just like normal nail polish. As a reminder, gel nails should really be removed carefully – ideally by a professional at a nail salon. Getting an appointment when your schedule is super busy can make quick changes with gel more difficult.
- Gel nails are the perfect canvas for so many amazing designs and finishes. You and your nail pro can get creative with nail art, chrome, airbrush, etc. Dazzle Dry is better if you’re someone who prefers a solid color without any bells or whistles.
- Dazzle Dry dries super fast without a UV lamp to cure it. If you’re someone who doesn’t love spending time under UV light, this makes it really great. (Don’t forget to wear sunscreen to the nail salon for gel manicures!)
I learned that I love both types of manicures and I think I’ll be going back and forth between the two options from now on! What are your favorite nail services and where do you get them? Let me know!
