First Impression of Good Impressions – Dayton Speakeasy Inside MidDay Cafe

By day, MidDay Cafe is a perfectly quintessential coffee shop to grab delicious coffee and great meals to get you through your work day.

By night, this unassuming coffee shop transforms into Good Impressions, a cocktail bar you enter through the blacked out “Trash Only” door on the side of the building.

The cocktail menu features several very inventive drinks created by owner, Greg Innocent. For instance, I ordered Now You Smell It, Now You Don’t, which came with a side of actual bubble solution and a wand so I could blow bubbles along with sipping my drink.

Another cocktail called Cran You Handle All This Flavor is topped with Old Fashioned foam made with xanthan gum instead of egg whites (it’s vegan!). This drink is the perfect transitional fall cocktail – it has autumn spice but still feels fun.

And according to Innocent, there are many more cocktails to come this winter except these will be even wilder and more outside the box than already featured.

Good Impressions’ menu also includes pages of traditional cocktails as well as a selection of wine. They offer mocktails and bites including tomato tartare, kettle chips, and avocado chili oil dip.

This is such a fun stop for a nightcap after a date night downtown and makes for the perfect girls night out, too.
