Dayton Vegan Pizza Guide

Gone are the days when vegans would have to order cheese-free pizzas from chain delivery places. Find your next vegan slice at one of these great Dayton restaurants.

Wheat Penny

Wheat Penny’s Veganator pizza is so incredibly delicious. Featuring smoky jackfruit, cashew ricotta, spinach, peppers, and onions, this pizza can have either a red or white base. Wheat Penny also has plenty of delicious veggie dishes on their menu as well as tasty cocktails, wine, and beer.

Old Scratch

Old Scratch has an entire vegan section on their menu and have perfected Neapolitan-style vegan pizza. The Vegan Mr. Scratch pizza (pictured above) features a red base, Miyoko mozzarella, vegan parmesan, house-made Impossible sausage, Calabrian chilis, and caramelized onions. They also have a vegan cheese pizza (Vegan Elliot), a Vegan Margherita pizza, and a white-base mushroom pizza called Vegan Shroom. Old Scratch has a veggie special each week (think wood-fired asparagus, broccolini, or acorn squash), but make sure to ask for it to be prepared vegan.

Rapid Fired Pizza

If you want to build your own amazing vegan pizza, check out Rapid Fired Pizza. They have vegan cheese and plenty of veggies to make it possible to create your own perfect pizza to go or get it delivered.

Pizza Bandit

Order whole vegan pizzas to go (or their amazing Vegan Bandit Bread) at Pizza Bandit. Or, if you’re in the mood to enjoy a beverage or two, order it to stay at Yellow Cab Tavern. This pizza comes with dipping sauces and many of them are vegan-friendly! Keep an eye on their weekly specials (like the one I helped create above – it was a benefit of participating in their Kickstarter!) – some of them are able to be made vegan, as well.

Whole Foods

It’s not locally owned OR a restaurant, but Whole Foods in Centerville does offer giant slices of vegan pizza most days AND you can call in an order for a whole pie. It’s pretty great for a quick lunch of a slice and a salad from their salad bar. Plus, when you order a whole pie, you can feed a crowd and half – they are enormous pizzas.
