An event space and a whole vibe, Lola is the place in Dayton to host intimate celebrations with a lot of style.
The History
When Covid upended…well…everything, Table 33 made some changes including walling off a section of the restaurant. The plan was to eventually use the space to open a fine dining establishment with a speakeasy vibe and modern-meets-vintage decor. With the ongoing ups and downs caused by the pandemic, the decision was made to convert these plans into an event space and Lola was born.
But how did Lola get her name? Owner Amy Carroll explains that while creating the space, she found herself referring to it with feminine pronouns. She wanted to find a name that suited the feminine, eclectic, and sexy vibe of the space and “Lola” just fit.
Transitioning Lola into an event space made sense for Amy. She’s always loved hosting parties at her home, “but here, it’s like those parties but on steroids,” she explains. With the pandemic falling further into distant memory, Amy explains that “people are really wanting to get out and have something to do.”
“Celebrating is underrated, if you ask me. We should do it a lot more.” – Lola owner, Amy Carroll
The Decor
Walking into Lola feels exactly like sliding on your chicest little black dress for a night on the town. The space is put together like an outfit with bespoke lighting features and opulent wall coverings designed by Anna Hayman, plus a mix of sumptuous textures ranging from leather couches, velvet chairs, and black marble tables. Throw in a show-stopping chandelier dripping with sparkling jewels, an eclectic mixed-tile floor, and a floor-to-ceiling wall of wine bottles and you have a space that is all dressed up and ready to celebrate.
The Events
This venue has been the gorgeous backdrop for wedding rehearsal dinners, baby showers, graduation celebrations, birthday parties, and even a ticketed Halloween party. It can accommodate around 50 for a seated meal or closer to 75 for a cocktail party. Lola even has the option of adding on a dedicated bartender to serve cocktails and more for your event. The Future
With Table 33 moving to The Arcade, the future of Lola is wide open. A restaurant? An after hours spot? Keep an eye on this space – it definitely won’t be boring.
In the meantime, soon you just may get a chance to eat dinner in the Lola Event Lounge as Table 33 returns to table service. Plus, there are plans for more ticketed events, networking opportunities, and more.
