April’s Best Bites – My Favorite Meals at Dayton Restaurants

In April, I did not seem to have any trouble finding amazing meals all around Dayton.

Small Plates at Meridien

I always have a great time at Meridien and this was no exception. I had hummus and the baked crostini (without cheese). For drinks, I tried The Grand Tour and The Jetsetter. Both were based on popular Italian cocktails.

Hash Browns at Old Scratch

This was a special at Old Scratch for most of April and it was so great. The chipotle ketchup was amazing – I hope that the whole dish comes back one day but if nothing else, at least bring back that ketchup!

Black Bean Tacos at Napales

I have heard nothing but high praise for everything Napales makes and one Saturday, my sister and I headed to 2nd Street Market to give it a try. My sister got potato sope and loved it. I had black bean tacos: One Tex Mex style with fajita peppers and pico de gallo, one Mexican style with diced onions and cilantro. They were absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to try more!

Vegan Meatloaf Sandwich at Lucky’s

Lucky’s created my dream sandwich – vegan meatloaf on Texas toast. It was decadent and very special. It lined up perfectly with seeing one of my favorite movies at The Neon: Pride and Prejudice! I hope this sandwich comes back again one day. It was seriously great.

Risotto at Mayflower

I loved getting to try Mayflower in Troy – the food really stole the show. I don’t often get to have risotto made vegan so that was a treat, plus they made it super spring-forward with asparagus and micro greens. The mushrooms gave it a lot of substance as well – it was just perfect.

And the bruschetta was fresh and delicious. I asked for the goat cheese on the side so I could enjoy it vegan – I would definitely order this entire meal over and over again.
