About Elle Landon

Luxury beauty brand, Elle Landon, got its start in Dayton, Ohio by founder and owner, Leslie Vargas. “My love of effective skincare began as a young girl,” explains Vargas. “My skin was dry and I spent a lot of time as a teen scouring department stores and luxury stores searching for the best products. Thankfully, my mom had charge accounts in these stores and didn’t complain (much) about my purchases!”

Elle Landon products are all-natural and for all skin types and ages with a focus on deep hydration. The list of products includes face and body oils, face moisturizers, perfume oils, and beard oil. “I test all of my new products on myself,” explains Vargas. “I keep improving it until I’m 100% happy with the scent, effectiveness, and feel on my skin. I tested the men’s beard and face oil on my husband, Jon Vargas. Also, I’m fortunate to have four sons who give their honest opinions on my creations.”

The most popular product in the lineup is the Luxe Face Oil. Vargus explains that it was the first product she developed and can be used morning or night, under or over makeup.

What’s in a name?

One of the most charming things about Elle Landon is that the name of the brand and many of the product names come straight from Leslie Vargas’ family. “Elle is a play on my first name and Landon is my mother’s maiden name,” explains Vargas. “My perfumes Vivian and Leta are named after my beloved aunts. Sleepy Jean is named after my mom. I thought that by naming my business after loved ones, it would honor them and bring more soul to my business. I like being reminded of my loved ones while I’m working.”

What’s new?

Elle Landon recently launched two new moisturizers:

Big Pink – A very emollient moisturizer made with oils, vitamin C, beeswax, and yeast. Yeast is anti-inflammatory and contains antioxidants. The name was suggested by Vargas’ husband, who plays bass in a band. It’s the name of the studio in New York where The Band recorded some of their albums.

Sleepy Jean – A face balm to use at night alone or over other products to help seal them in. It’s made with moringa oil, vitamin E, and rosehip oil.

While Vargas divides her time between here and Nashville, Dayton is the home of Elle Landon. “I really enjoy having a business in Dayton, Ohio,” explains Vargas. “I especially love working with Dayton’s women-owned businesses. We support each other. These are smart, hardworking people and I’m so glad to know each of them.”
