Agave & Rye Centerville Opens

Dayton fans of tacos, tequila, and bourbon have a big reason to celebrate as Agave & Rye opens their newest location in Centerville’s Uptown District. I had a chance to check it out – here’s how it went!

The Place

The decor is wild with full-sized metallic animal figures, a surprising amount of egg imagery, and art featuring famous icons of Hollywood, hip hop, and more. Throw in some glittering chandeliers, chrome details, and graffiti and you have basically the complete antithesis to your average, humble Panera, which used to be at this location.

The Food & Drinks

Start with some munchies or chips and dip, or order a few and make that your whole meal – the portions are big. And the menu notes which items are gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan, eliminating a huge hassle for people with dietary restrictions.

The Epic Tacos are true to their name featuring a double shell and tons of tasty fillings ranging from standard ingredients to totally unexpected options like lo mein noodles, malt vinegar french fries, and lobster to name a few. One taco and a side is really all I can comfortably finish – but two isn’t totally impossible. You can mix and match when you order more than one. They also have baby tacos, grilled street tacos, and plenty of non-taco menu items.

The drinks are perfect. My favorite is the OG Margarita on the rocks. I love margaritas without sour mix and theirs features tequila, triple sec, lime juice, sugar water, and “secrets” – and that little bit of mystery makes it even tastier.

The Details

Agave & Rye got started in Covington, Kentucky, with locations throughout Ohio known for fabulous tacos, delicious tequila and bourbon drinks, and opulent decor. Before the Centerville location opened, our closest locations were Liberty Center to the south and Troy to the north. Check them out when you’re in those areas!
