When I was growing up in Vandalia, my friends and I spent plenty of time in neighboring Tipp City’s quaint historic district. Here’s how I spent a recent visit to this charming small town.
Lunch at Coldwater Cafe

I always have a great time at Coldwater Cafe. This restaurant was once a bank, and there are all kinds of nods to its history. For instance, you can eat your meal seated inside the former bank vault or book a private party in what was once a boardroom.

Coldwater Cafe’s menu always offers a quiche of the day, specials, and a few vegan items as well as gluten free options. While not marked, some of their sides are vegan, as well.

I had the vegan soup – a carrot ginger bisque garnished with chili oil and a side of their quinoa salad, which includes almonds and celery for crunch and craisins for sweetness. I always order their mint iced tea – it’s refreshing and simple.
Shopping at Hotel Gallery

Hotel Gallery is beyond filled with amazing, giftable items. The main star of the shop is the plethora of handmade pottery in coordinating glazes.

There are 3 floors to explore – I have so far only made it through about 1.5. You could spend all day just at this shop.

A few years ago, I bought a dress here that I love and wear from time to time. The clothing section must be where your favorite art teacher likely sourced most of her wardrobe. It’s colorful, eccentric, and unique.

Take Home the Flavor of Tipp City from Bodega Market

Many of your favorite items from Coldwater Cafe can be found at Bodega Market like breads, wine, salads, and more.

I made sure to pick up some delicious focaccia and have it sliced. I can’t wait to enjoy it with some autumn soups this season.
